I was lucky enough to join this amazing group of American Classic Travelers on this journey throughout the unspoiled land of New Mexico. We saw so much and had a lot of fun. On March 15th, a group of American Classic travelers returned home from our annual Fly Away Mystery Tour. For almost 20 years, American Classic travelers have come together in March to escape the cold weather and enjoy a journey full of fun and mystery. This year our journey led us to Daytona Beach, St. Augustine and Orlando. Below I want to take you step by step to show you how our Mystery Tour unfolded this year.
It was 1895 as Mark Twain stepped off the steamboat that carried him to Mackinac Island. Twain was visiting this budding tourist hub to give a lecture at the new Grand Hotel Casino. Hundreds of rich vacationers from Detroit, Chicago, and Montreal paid a hefty $1 admission fee to attend Twain's lecture. Twain was drawn to the elegance of America's new summer Palace. Following Twain's lead, thousands of "rich & famous" visited the Grand Hotel in the 20th century.
